Standing Committees

Membership Committee

Develops and assists in the successful implementation of ways to increase the number of Association members through key communication channels (i.e., Web, on-line community, social networking) and other means. This will include oversight of all Alumni Association communications.

Programming Committee

This committee strives to develop programs to assist UMUC alumni and students with their personal and professional development, including career seminars, mentoring programs and job resource assistance.

Student Relations and External Affairs Committee

Works closely with key external constituencies of the university. The committee’s initiative is twofold—to address the needs of current students and to engage alumni in actively recruiting prospective UMUC students. In support of the former, the committee’s vice president will provide mentoring services to help students graduate. In addition, the committee’s role includes:

• Representing the Association on the UMUC Student Advisory Committee
• Working as liaison in conjunction with the University Office of Department of Defense (DOD) Relations to support initiatives that increase involvement and connection to and among current and future alumni with DOD affiliations
• Working as liaison in conjunction with the university’s president and legislative staff to organize alumni support for UMUC in the Maryland General Assembly.

Foreign Affairs Relations Committee

Seeks to promote the Association and its activities within UMUC's Europe and Asia divisions. The committee’s vice president will also seek to develop alumni programming and work closely with the vice pesident of Membership and vice president of Programming to increase the number of association members in Europe and Asia.
