 Patricia J. Toregas has worked hard to earn two degrees while juggling the demands of an active family life and expanding career in telecommunications. She has given generously of her time and resources to support UMUC’s mission and has served on both the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors and the Graduate School Advisory Board, all while helping to support the university’s financial goals, first as a member of the President’s Club and more recently with her support for the Scholarship Endowment Fund. Patricia has distinguished herself as an outstanding community volunteer and activist. For her exemplary achievements and inspirational leadership, both at her alma mater and within the community, it is our privilege to present her as the University of Maryland University College Distinguished Alumna of 2007. |

Theresa Poussaint has gone above and beyond the call of duty throughout her seven-year tenure, serving as a member of the Board of Directors. Upon her 2001 graduation, Theresa quickly demonstrated her desire to stay connected with her alma mater by serving on the Communications Committee. Recognizing the value of her commitment and leadership, she was soon elected by fellow alumni to serve on the Executive Board as Vice President of Communications. Theresa’s genuine passion and commitment to the UMUC community is infectious. As president of the Board of Directors, her goal was to integrate alumni support in all university enrollment and retention initiatives. Alumni involvement increased over 100 percent this past year. It is for these reasons that we honor Theresa Poussaint as our 2007 Edward A. Parnell Outstanding Alumna Service Award recipient.Annual Service and Awards Criteria
